Hire General Managers (GM)
It is no secret that in many organisations, corporate-level senior executives will be drawn from the ranks of General Managers (GM). The role of a GM is broad, with all of the responsibilities of a business or business component within a larger organisation resting on their shoulders. The General Manager is the top executive of a division and is responsible for their strategy, budgets, structure, people, and financial performance.
In larger organisations, the General Manager reports to a corporate executive, often the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Operations Officer, and usually bring with them a deep knowledge and understanding of the business’ operating environment gained through a sound and long history of working in similar functions.
